HOWARD WINKLEVOSS, Ph.D.

Dr. Winklevoss is President and Managing Principal and Co-Founder of Winklevoss Partners.  He has over 40 years of experience in finance, actuarial science and software development.  He taught actuarial science and insurance at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, from 1969 until 1981. While teaching at Wharton, he founded Winklevoss & Associates, providing financial consulting to over 100 major corporations.  He sold the firm to Johnson & Higgins in 1984, where he continued as Senior Vice President until 1987.

Dr. Winklevoss left J&H to co-found Winklevoss Consultants, Inc., a predecessor to Winklevoss Partners LLC.  At the same time, Dr. Howard Winklevoss also founded Winklevoss Technologies, the leading provider worldwide for retirement plan financing and forecasting software.  He has a B.A. from Grove City College, an M.S. and MBA from California State University, a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Oregon, and an honorary M.S. from the University of Pennsylvania.  He is the author of a textbook for actuaries, Pension Mathematics with Numerical Illustrations, published by the Pension Research Council and the University of Pennsylvania Press in 1977 (1st Ed.) and 1993 (2nd Ed.) and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Mr. Burke is a Principal and co-founder of Winklevoss Partners and its predecessor Winklevoss Consultants Inc.  For almost 30 years, he has acted as lead consultant on numerous transactions and consulting assignments centered on tax and financial strategies in the area of employee benefit finance for large corporate employers in the US. 

Mr. Burke began his career as an Advanced Underwriting Consultant at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York, and spent six years with Johnson & Higgins as an employee benefits account executive.  He has a BA in Classics cum laude from Princeton University and a JD from the University of Connecticut School of Law.  He holds the Chartered Life Underwriter designation from the American College.  He is a member of the CT and NY Bar Associations.

MICHAEL VASILE

Mr. Vasile is a Vice President of Winklevoss Partners, with primary responsibility for overseeing the firm’s Broker-Dealer and state licensing. He also assists on strategy development. Mike joined Winklevoss in 1999. Prior to joining the firm, he spent six years with William M.Mercer, where he provided actuarial valuations and group benefits consulting. Mike received his B.A. with Distinction in Mathematics from Hofstra University.

MARK LOCKWOOD

Mr. Lockwood is the Controller of Winklevoss Partners and its Broker-Dealer, having joined the firm in 2003.  He is responsible for cash management and all the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk. Prior to joining Winklevoss, he worked at several private owned companies, including the World Wrestling Federation.  The first 5 ½ years of this career were in public accounting.  Mr. Lockwood holds a degree in Accounting from Southern Connecticut State University.

 

JOSEPH GILBERT

Mr. Gilbert is Marketing Director for Winklevoss Partners, focusing on business development. He joined Winklevoss Technologies in 2001 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and has directed the company's business development efforts across all product lines. Mr. Gilbert has over 30 years of experience in high level sales and management positions. Mr. Gilbert is a graduate of LeMoyne College with a B.A. in English Literature.

 

COLIN GILBERT

Mr. Gilbert is a Marketing Associate for Winklevoss Partners. He joined Winklevoss Technologies in 2009 as the lead salesman for SimMetric, a PC application tailored to the strategic management of foundations and endowments. He is currently acting in a dual capacity marketing SimMetric and providing marketing support to the principals of Winklevoss Partners LLC. Prior to joining Winklevoss Technologies, Mr. Gilbert worked in sales within the healthcare and retail consulting industries. Colin is a graduate of The College of Sante Fe, where he graduated with a B.A. in Creative Writing / English.

 

CHRIS GIANNAKOPOULOS

Mr. Giannakopoulos is a Senior Consultant for Winklevoss Partners. He has been providing financial consulting services since 1997 and has experience which includes simulating insurance administration systems and auditing insurance programs.  In 2004 Chris became an Associate of the Society of Actuaries as well as a CFA charterholder.  Chris received his B.S in Actuarial Science with a minor in Economics from the University of Calgary.
